"U.S. Internet company Google has pledged to invest PLN 14.5 million in Poland in the creation of a research and
development centre as well as an operations centre for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the government said in a statement Tuesday. Google, which just the latest major IT firm to invest in a Polish operation, says the projects will create 270 workplaces and will run for a minimum of five years after 2009. Total budget support for the projects will reach PLN 3.16 million. Poland last year drew almost 13 billion euros in foreign direct investment." Interfax CE April 2008

"Ford-Werke, the German subsidiary of American car maker Ford, intends to invest around EUR 94 million in production of its new Ka model in Poland, likely to be launched late this year, Wolfgang Schneider, deputy chief executive of Ford Europe, said at a press briefing on Monday.

"The new Ka will be made in collaboration with Italian Fiat in the southern city of Tychy. Ford-Werke decided to move the production from Spain's Valencia, motivated by lower costs, the potential of the Polish market and the country's strategic position in the region." Interfax CE March 2008
